Clare Muhoro, PhD
Dr.Clare Muhoro was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya and moved to the US for her post-secondary education. She received a scholarship to attend St Lawrence University in New York where she received a bachelor's in Chemistry, and thereafter completed a Ph.D in Chemistry from Yale University in 1999. Dr. Muhoro began her academic career in 1999 at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania as assistant and associate professor. She is currently associate professor of organic chemistry at Towson University in Maryland where she teaches and conducts research in organic, organometallic and environmental chemistries. Her environmental chemistry research involves investigation of aquatic pesticide chemistry in tropical environments in Kenya and Ecuador. In addition to scientific scholarship, Dr. Muhoro's professional interests also involve mentoring students through undergraduate and graduate education in the chemical sciences both in the US and in Kenya.
