Tarja was born and raised in Finland and moved to United States in 2000 to further her education. She currently serves as administrative assistant for the Weiser Center for Europe and Eurasia at the University of Michigan. She joined RJW because she wished to do something more in her life to make the world a better place. It seemed natural to her to lend her business acumen to RJW in the belief that helping the RJW Foundation and its mission would be the next best thing to offering practical medical assistance in Africa..."seeking to give (her) time and expertise to help the people that really needed it."
