Founders Update

2006 was an exciting year. It saw The Foundation team up with the Number 1 hospital in the United States - The Johns Hopkins Hospital and establish a blue-print to allow anexchange of surgeons-in-training between University of Nairobi and JHH. The Chair and William Stewart Halsted Professor of General Surgery delivered Grand Rounds at the University of Nairobi and at the Aga Khan University teaching hospitals in Nairobi. She met the Vice President of Kenya, His Excellency Moody Arthur Awori and the Permanent Secretary of Health. The Foundation also arranged a private meeting with the US medical attaché and Consular General and were given a tour of the US embassy in Nairobi with assurances as to their cooperation in the endeavor. Dr Freischlag was honored at two receptions attended by various notable health care professionals in Nairobi and in Mombasa paying tribute to "Women making strides in the 21st Century". JHH will be signing an agreement to allow the first 4 residents to travel to Kenya as early as 2007. The concept of a bilateral exchange was very well received and on behalf of the Foundation and my distinguished directors I am proud, humbled and very grateful.
